There are many Christians who could have done great things in the
service of the Lord; but because they lacked patience they did not
persevere and utterly failed to do what the Lord called them to do.
They will stand before the judgment seat of God as the
could-have-been other than being the good and faithful servants that
they should have been.
In order to acquire onto godliness (a state of having rewards laid
up in Heaven) we must first have patience.
For where a man's treasure is so shall be his heart.
If your heart is focused on heaven you are godly; but if it is
focused on earth you are earthly (i.e.) ungodly.
Peter said, Add to your faith virtue; virtue knowledge; knowledge
temperance; temperance patience; patience godliness.
